Letter, 1777 January 4.

Letter to Cyrus Keith discussing developments in the war. Israel relates an incident of atrocity in which the British troops occupying New York herded a number of people into a barn, stripped them of their clothes and turned them out into the winter cold. He also discusses the victory of Washington over the Hessians at Trenton. Keith comments on the superior talents of the Hessian troops. A final point of discussion by Keith is the fur trade, in which his brother is occupied. Written at Peekskill, N.Y.
